PIA Suspends Gulf Flights Amid Escalating Middle East Tensions

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Saturday suspended its flight operations to several Gulf destinations in response to the rapidly evolving security situation in the Middle East following strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel.

In a statement, a PIA spokesperson confirmed that flights to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Doha, and Kuwait have been temporarily halted.

“These flights will remain suspended until tomorrow evening or until regional airspace is restored, whichever occurs later,” the spokesperson said.

However, PIA flights to Saudi Arabia will continue to operate, though the airline has adjusted their routes as a precautionary measure. The spokesperson added that these services have been shifted to Boeing 777 aircraft and will take longer alternative routes to reach their destinations.

The national carrier has advised passengers to stay in contact with the PIA call centre at 111-786-786 for updates regarding flight schedules or changes to bookings.

The move comes amid widespread airspace closures and disruptions across the region due to rising tensions.
