UN Rapporteur Condemns US, Israel For Destroying World Peace and Order After Iran Strike

A United Nations special rapporteur has accused the United States and Israel of undermining global peace following their recent military strikes on Iran.

Balakrishnan Rajagopal, the UN special rapporteur on the right to housing, criticized the attacks in a statement posted on X, saying he “strongly deplored” the action taken by Washington and Tel Aviv. He also condemned what he described as the “complicity” of countries that either supported the strikes or remained silent.

Rajagopal warned that civilians would bear the brunt of the escalation, stating that many innocent people could lose their lives and homes as a result of the attacks. He further alleged that the US and Israel were “destroying world peace and order.”

The joint US-Israeli military operation was launched early Saturday, with both governments saying it targeted threats posed by Iran. The strikes followed the conclusion of a recent round of US-Iran nuclear negotiations held in Geneva under Omani mediation, during which both sides had described discussions as serious and constructive.

The latest escalation comes months after the United States carried out strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities during a 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran last June.
