Chinese President Xi Jinping Pledges ‘Even Closer’ Pak-China Community on Pakistan Day

Chinese President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan, expressing a desire to build an “even closer” China-Pakistan community with a shared future.

In a congratulatory message sent to Asif Ali Zardari on the occasion of Pakistan Day, Xi noted the significance of this year, which marks both the launch of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He emphasised the importance of carrying forward the longstanding friendship between the two nations, enhancing strategic communication, and aligning development strategies as both countries pursue modernisation.

The Chinese leader also praised Pakistan’s efforts in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, while navigating economic and security challenges. He acknowledged Islamabad’s role in promoting regional peace, stability, and development, adding that China values Pakistan’s progress and achievements.

Separately, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi extended Pakistan Day greetings to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. He highlighted Pakistan’s resilience in overcoming challenges and its growing role in regional and global affairs, expressing Beijing’s willingness to further deepen the longstanding “all-weather” strategic partnership.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang also sent a message of congratulations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, underscoring continued high-level engagement between the two countries.
