Pakistan Government to Release Salaries, Pensions Before Eid-ul-Adha 2026

The federal government of Pakistan has decided to disburse salaries and pensions to all employees and pensioners ahead of Eid-ul-Adha 2026, according to sources cited by ARY News.

The Ministry of Finance has finalized arrangements for early payment of May 2026 salaries and pensions, with disbursements expected to take place on May 22. This move, under the Federal Government Receipts and Payments Rules 2025, is intended to allow employees to prepare for the upcoming religious festival without financial strain.

Officials confirmed that the Controller General of Accounts has been directed to ensure timely processing, and all relevant departments have been instructed to implement the decision immediately. The early payment is a standard practice during major Islamic holidays to ease the financial burden on government staff.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has predicted that Eid-ul-Adha 2026 will likely fall on Wednesday, May 27, based on astronomical calculations. According to SUPARCO’s assessment, the Dhul Hijjah moon is expected to be sighted on Sunday, May 17, with the new moon born at 1:01 AM on that day. By sunset, the moon’s age will be approximately 18 hours and 30 minutes, considered sufficient for naked-eye visibility in most parts of Pakistan. In coastal areas, the time difference between sunset and moonset will be about 60 minutes, enhancing the likelihood of crescent sighting.

The early salary and pension release will benefit thousands of federal employees and pensioners, ensuring they can celebrate Eid with financial comfort. The government has urged all departments to expedite the process to avoid any delays.
