KP Announces Four-Day Eid Holidays, Provinces Finalise Different Schedules

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced four public holidays for Eid, from May 26 to May 29 (Tuesday to Friday), according to an official notification issued on Saturday.

In a separate notification, the Punjab government declared three holidays from May 26 to May 28 (Tuesday to Thursday), aligning its schedule with the federal government’s announcement.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government earlier confirmed a four-day Eid holiday period, which also includes Friday, the third day of Eidul Azha, in its official schedule.

Across Pakistan, Eidul Azha is expected to be observed from May 27 to May 29.

At the federal level, the government had already announced a three-day public holiday from May 26 to May 28 to mark Eidul Azha, according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division. The decision followed moon sighting reports received from various cities, including Karachi, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Mardan, and other areas in Sindh.

Eidul Azha, celebrated on the 10th of Zilhaj, marks the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage and is one of the most significant religious festivals in the Islamic calendar.

Saudi Arabia is also expected to observe the first day of Eidul Azha on May 27, according to Saudi media reports.
