CDF Munir visits Pakistan Ordnance Factory in Wah, reviewing production capabilities and export potential, as the military reaffirms its commitment to self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir toured the facility on Saturday, where he was briefed on the factory’s role in strengthening national defence through indigenous development and production of military equipment.
The visit included witnessing tests and trials of locally designed arms and ammunition, underscoring the Pakistan Ordnance Factory’s focus on innovation and enhancing the country’s defence production capabilities.
Officials also presented an overview of the corporatisation process following the enactment of the Defence Industrial Production and Regulation Act (DIPRA) Ordinance, signaling a shift towards modernising the state-owned enterprise.
During the briefing, CDF Munir was apprised of ongoing indigenisation and upgradation efforts, including the installation of two new industrial plants expected to commence production by the end of the current year.
The ISPR statement highlighted that the visit underscored the military’s commitment to advancing self-reliance, indigenous production, and technological innovation in Pakistan’s defence sector.
This latest visit aligns with recent efforts to boost the Pakistan Ordnance Factory’s export potential, with officials emphasising its contributions to the country’s defence industrial base.
