Mecca Alliance: Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have agreed to immediately implement the collective defense commitments under the Mecca Defense Alliance and ensure the rapid deployment of agreed military forces and capabilities to Saudi Arabia.
The decision was made during an emergency meeting of the alliance’s Strategic Political and Defense Committee in Riyadh to discuss security developments and threats facing the kingdom.
According to a joint statement, the committee decided to move immediately toward the practical implementation of the alliance’s collective defense commitments.
The three countries also agreed to take necessary measures to provide the agreed military forces and capabilities and ensure their rapid deployment in Saudi Arabia under the Mecca Alliance.
The deployment will follow approved arrangements and the national laws of the three member states. The move is aimed at strengthening military readiness, integration and the alliance’s collective ability to respond to threats.
Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan also strongly condemned attempts to target the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well as continued attacks on other Saudi cities and civilian and economic facilities.
During the meeting, the committee appointed Pakistan’s retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood as the first secretary-general of Mecca Alliance. He will serve a three-year term. Pakistan had appointed general nauman mahmood, a retired three-star Pakistani general to lead the alliance
The Mecca Defense Alliance was formally established through a pact signed by Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan on August 7. The three countries have since taken steps to institutionalize the agreement.
