Pakistan on Friday strongly condemned a Houthi militia attack on the Taibah power distribution station in Madina, calling it a “grave provocation” and a threat to regional peace and security.
In a statement, the Foreign Office said the attack, which took place on September 29, targeted civilian infrastructure supplying electricity to the Holy Prophet’s Mosque (PBUH). The FO stressed that the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of worshippers and pilgrims must be respected under all circumstances.
The Foreign Office demanded an immediate and unconditional end to what it described as “reckless actions,” warning that such attacks also constituted a grave threat to regional peace and security.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia, the FO expressed full support for the kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security. “Pakistan stands firmly with Saudi Arabia in its efforts to safeguard the Two Holy Mosques, protect its people and ensure the safety of pilgrims,” the statement said.
The FO added that Pakistan had been and would continue to make efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
The attack on the Taibah power distribution station in Madina has drawn widespread concern, given its proximity to one of Islam’s holiest sites. Pakistan’s condemnation underscores its consistent stance against threats to Saudi Arabia and the safety of pilgrims.
Pakistan’s message was clear: such actions are unacceptable and must cease immediately. The Foreign Office reiterated that the safety of worshippers and pilgrims is paramount and that any attack on civilian infrastructure serving the Two Holy Mosques is a direct affront to the Muslim ummah.
Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia remains steadfast, with the FO underscoring that the kingdom’s security is vital to regional stability. The statement concluded with a call for concerted efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
