Modernization Drive Continues, Saudi Arabia To Change Its Flag, Anthem Laws

0

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is considering amendments to the decree governing its national anthem and green flag, both of which display the Islamic declaration of faith, indicating that the kingdom is the birthplace of Islam.

According to state-run media, Saudi Arabia’s unelected Shura Council voted in favour of changes. This change comes as Saudi Arabia’s crown prince emphasizes national pride and Saudi nationality.

However, the changes favour amendments to the flag, slogan, and national anthem, but not to its content, reported state-linked media. Further details have not been released by the council.

During a time of rapid reforms in a country that was once ultraconservative, this proposal comes as no surprise. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been working to redefine Saudi identity by taking away pan-Islamism and replacing it with a national-cultural identity that goes beyond religion.

We Won’t Allow Anyone To Use Afghan Soil Against Pakistan, Afghan Govt Assures Pakistani NSA

0

A delegation led by Pakistan’s National Security Advisor, Dr. Moeed Yusuf, held talks with Afghanistan’s acting Deputy Prime Minister, Abdul Salam Hanafi on Saturday, on matters of mutual interests. Both discussed a wide range of issues, including politics and trade. Meanwhile, the Taliban government assured the Pakistani delegation that Afghan soil would not be allowed to use against the neighboring countries, including Pakistan.

Abdul Salam Hanafi gave the assurance amid an increase in terrorist attacks by Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan after it declined to negotiate a ceasefire last month with Islamabad. The Afghan Taliban had been involved in brokering a ceasefire with Pakistan and the TTP previously, but that truce lasted for one month and there was no progress in the peace negotiations. Therefore, Pakistan is concerned about TTP’s continued use of Afghan soil as a base for attacks against Pakistan. Since then, Pakistan has declared that it will resume operations against TTP, and will fight to eradicate this threat.

Moreover, in a statement, the Taliban government stated that the Afghan deputy Prime Minister had informed the Pakistani delegation that it was against Islamic Emirate policies to allow Afghan soil to become a weapon against other countries. We expect similar actions to be taken by other countries.

According to the Afghan deputy Prime Minister, “Pakistan and Afghanistan are both ‘neighboring’ countries and are ‘brotherly countries’ which have historical and religious relationships and I hope this relationship can last within an atmosphere of brotherhood.” Adding to this, Hanafi stated, “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seeks good relations with Pakistan, based on mutual respect and promotion of trade and transit relationships.”

Thus, he expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s hospitality and help in hosting Afghan refugees. “We would love to have relations between Pakistan and the rest of the region based on mutual respect and goodwill. This will ensure that trade relations and transit relations can improve further,” he added.

In this regard, the Afghan deputy Prime Minister appealed to Pakistani traders and investors not to ignore Afghanistan’s energy, mining, and agriculture sectors and invest as much as they can.
NSA Yusuf, for his part, stressed the importance of economic relations. He said that it was impossible to ensure peace and stability without establishing trade and transit ties. According to the statement, he said that Pakistan is committed to the full implementation of major projects. The two countries should also form a team of the private sector to hold talks about expanding health, education, and trade, as well as information technology.

Therefore, officials of relevant ministries said that the purpose of the visit was to assess the humanitarian, financial, and development needs of Afghanistan in different sectors.

Israeli President To Make A State Visit To Turkey, Confirms Erdogan

0

Turkey was the first Muslim majority country to recognize Israel and normalize relations with the Jewish state in 1949. However, their relations have faced ups and downs throughout history. Attacks against Palestine by Israeli defense forces resulted in the deterioration of relations. Turkey removed its ambassador in 2018 from Israel and appointed an envoy again in 2020.

However, relations are seeming to improve again as the Turkish president confirms the expected visit of the Israeli counterpart in February 2022. An Israeli official told that any kind of offer from a powerful and important Muslim country leaves no option for us except to give a positive answer.

Erdogan defended his stance to improve relations by saying “If we are policymaking, this cannot be with a fight or quarrel. We have to maintain the policy within the line of peace.” He confirmed that Israeli president Isaac Herzog and prime minister Naftali Bennett are also communicating with Turkish officials at different levels.

Turkey and Israel agreed to export Israeli gas to Europe in 2016 and Turkey is still interested to fulfill that commitment. Both states seek to normalize relations despite mutual concerns.

Pakistan Never Lost A War Against India On India’s Western Border, Says Former Indian Army Officer Parveen Sawhney

0

A retired Indian Army Colonel Praveen Sawhney made a confession according to which “Pakistan never lost a war on India’s western border”. When the statement came over the internet, netizens started talking about the 1971 episode of disintegrating western Pakistan or present-day Bangladesh. It is a fact that it was a most horrendous day where almost half of Pakistan was wiped out of the map of the world. But here if we try to carefully understand the statement made by the Indian Colonel, he is stating that Pakistan never lost a war on the ” Western border” while the 1971 event transpired on the Eastern half which was a setback for Pakistani forces.

The argument presented by the former Colonel was that in all the three wars of 1947- 48, 1965, and 1971 the line of control was never breached by the Indian forces on the western sphere which depicts that India never won. However, Pakistan did capture the Azad Kashmir area known most famously as Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) in India.

Talking about the 1965 war, the Indian dream of having breakfast in Lahore was also shattered by not just the Pakistan army but the common people who laid their lives for the country as well. Our fighter pilot M.M Alam also made a world record in bringing down five Indian aircraft in a single blow. The formally undeclared Indian attack at night turned against them as they asked the United Nations for an armistice.

The other clashes in Siachen and the Kargil also never went into the Indian favour solely. After India occupied the Siachen sector in 1984, Pakistan launched the Chumik operation in 1989 and eventually brought India to the negotiation table where it was finally declared as a demilitarized zone. In the Kargil clash as well, there were no territorial changes but 553 officers and soldiers were arrested with 527 being killed by the Pak army with 357 soldiers from Pakistan claiming martyrdom as well as per the reports by economic times.

The most recent Abhinandan episode of 2019 also depicts the Pakistani influence over the mighty Indian force. Keeping these facts in mind, it can be concluded that the claims of Colonel (r) Sawhney are not vague and do amass some weight.
