Noor Mukadam, a 27-year-old and the daughter of former diplomat Shaukat Mukadam, was grisly murdered and beheaded on July 20th, 2021 in an upscale and posh neighborhood of F7/4, Islamabad. Noor’s body was found in the house of Zahir Jaffer, who is the prime murder suspect and an FIR has been registered against him at the Kohsar Police Station.

According to the initial reports, both were friends and Zahir had held Noor hostage for two days before killing her. An Investigation Team was created as soon as the issue started trending on social media and Prime Minister took notice. On July 25th, Zahir’s parents were arrested and the court sent the suspect on remand. On August 21, the court extended Zahir’s physical remand and moved him to Adiala jail. Moreover, on August 10, all suspects in the case were placed on Exit Control List (ECL). On September 11, a major turnout took place as the suspect, Zahir Jaffer confessed his crime and told that he murdered Noor because she refused to marry him.

The case is going on with emerging controversies every day including Zahir Jaffer’s mental health which was further declared ‘stable’ by the doctors at the jail and the fingerprints and the DNA report also place Zahir at the murder scene.

On 24th January 2021, IG Islamabad took a meeting to review the progress of the trial of the Noor Mukadam Case in the context of previous meetings and media reports. The meeting was attended by DIG Operations, Chief Prosecutor SSP Investigation, SP Investigation, DSP Legal and IO of the case. The case took another turn with the statements of the Investigation Officer, which he said during his cross-examination by the defence lawyer Advocate Sikandar Saleem.

He revealed three loopholes during the court proceedings:

  1. No statements of any neighbor or guard were recorded.
  2. CCTV footage was also not made part of the investigation.
  3. No bloodstains were found on the accused’s pants.

Furthermore, the officer said in today’s hearing, presided over by Additional Session Judge Ata Rabbani that Zahir’s presence was not included on the crime scene map and the hair sample taken from the knife, presumed to be of the victim’s, was found to be “not suitable”.

Man Armed With Rifle Attacks Mosque In Germany

0

Germany has witnessed an ominous increase in anti-Muslim enmity in current years. This country boasts 81 million Muslims, making it the second-biggest Muslim community in Western Europe.

An attack by an assault rifle on a German mosque in the Saxony Anhalt region of Germany has triggered the latest anti-Muslim violence in Western Europe. Anadolu Agency, citing a police statement, stated that near Halle in central Germany, two individuals heard shots being fired near the Islamic Cultural Center. According to the police report, there were three bullets on the ground. However, there were not any casualties.

Eyewitnesses reported that a 55-year-old man set fire to the mosque as the witness had seen him from his house. The old man lived in an apartment nearby the mosque. Thus, the police found a gas pistol and a gun, noting that the inquiry was ongoing but the suspect didn’t have any criminal record earlier.

Meantime, Germany’s Islamic organization, the Central Council of Muslims via Twitter, condemned the shooting incident, stating, “Thankfully nobody was injured. Police are still investigating and interrogating. Anti-Muslim hatred and racism are not just in words,” It also pointed out that they have also reported similar attacks on the mosque in recent times adding that it was crucial to continue to collaborate and resolutely combat hostility towards Islam and anti-Semitism.

The attack occurs at a time in which Germany’s eastern region has been experiencing an increase of anti-Muslim hostility over the last few years. This was because of far-right groups and parties after a large number of refugees arrived in Europe. TRT World’s annual report shows that Germany has witnessed a continuous increase in the number of Muslims being convicted over the years. It reported at least 1,026 crimes against Muslims in 2020. This compares with 950 in 2019 and 910 for 2018.

The German situation represents the overall grim European situation, which includes rising hate crimes towards Muslims, which are fueled by Islamophobia. A current statement on Islamophobia in Europe asserted that hate crimes against Muslims have “worsened” over the past two years, if not to a tipping point.

Pakistan lost 16 spots on the list over the last year and ranked 140 out of 180 countries. This shows that the government has failed to control corruption despite the popular Anti-Corruption rhetoric that PTI promulgated to gain power.

Pakistan scored 28/100 as compared to last year’s score that was 31/100. According to an official of transparency International in Pakistan, “Absence of rule of law has resulted in low CPI score of Pakistan”.

Pakistani Cricketers Making History

0

Since the formation of Pakistan, the country won only 3 ICC awards while in the last two days, Pakistan has already taken 4 of the trophies which depict our domination in the world cricketing arena.

Despite all the pressures and security scenarios with no team ready to tour Pakistan and the humiliation we faced after New Zealand withdrew their team moments before the match was to be played last year, this distinction will make the world realize what they are missing while not coming and playing against us.

Because of the sheer determination and the consistency, Babar Azam won ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer Of The Year, Mohammad Rizwan won ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer Of The Year, Shaheen Afridi ICC Men’s Cricketer Of The Year 2021.

Not just our boys but the rising female cricketer Fatima Sana also grabbed an ICC Emerging Women’s Cricketer Of The Year Award which will not just be a motivation for her but will inspire the future generation as well.

It’s a proud moment for all of us but we must not only cherish their victories but should stand with them in their defeats as well as they are one big source of entertainment for all of us.
