Seven Countries Express Interest In Gwadar

0

Seven countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Egypt, Kenya and United Arab Emirates have expressed their commitment for cooperation on Gwadar’s development. Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Pakistan and its neighbouring countries want peace and a political settlement in Afghanistan to avoid possible civil war, which would affect the entire region.

“Afghanistan will suffer the most if a civil war breaks out and neighbouring countries will also be affected apart from the Afghan refugees,” Mr Khan reiterated, pointing out that Pakistan’s trade link with Central Asia could also be affected. Pakistan made good contracts with Tajikistan, and soon he would be visiting Uzbekistan, he said. “They all are interested in using Gwadar deep sea port for trade since they are landlocked,” he explained.

About the development of Balochistan, the Prime Minister said the future belonged to Gwadar as it would emerge as the focal point of development, ensuring prosperity of the entire country. It would open up new avenues of opportunities for regional trade, PM Khan said, mentioning that Gwadar International Airport would encourage regional trade and boost economic activity and the port of Gwadar would connect directly with other countries.

The Prime Minister mentioned several initiatives for Gwadar uplift including the establishment of a university, employment under Kamyab Jawan Programme and upgrade of equipment for local fishermen. To fully protect the fishermen and improve their conditions, Rs10 billion was allocated under Kamyab Jawan programme, out of which Rs 5bn has been spent so far. Mr Khan vowed that the PM Office would monitor progress on the development plans in Gwadar on monthly basis.

The Prime Minister said his vision of an emerging Pakistan was that of a steadfast nation committed to the country’s prosperity. The government was focused on ensuring the provision of basic amenities in Gwadar and Balochistan, particularly clean water and electricity to encourage industrialization.

Afghan Taliban Take Over The Strategic Wakhan District Bordering China, Pakistan and Tajikistan, Without Firing A Single Bullet

Taliban continue to take over Afghanistan districts amid US troops withdrawal. They have managed to take over almost 100 districts till now, roughly about a third of the country. In the latest development, Afghan Taliban took over Afghanistan’s strategic Wakhan district bordering Pakistan, China and Tajikistan, with only four men, and without firing a single bullet. The locals can be seen warmly welcoming Afghan Taliban and chanting “Takbeer” slogans:

Cultural populism under Imran Khan

0

The prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has been striving to bring another wave of ‘Islamization’ in Pakistan following the footsteps of General Zia. The premier pledged to make Pakistan ‘riyasat-e-madinah’, and in his efforts to pursue this goal Pakistan has become more of an intolerant, extremist state with people venting their anger and frustration in the name of religion.

Pakistan was created with a purpose to provide Muslims a separate homeland where they would be able to enjoy their socio-political and religious rights freely. According to Jinnah’s repertoire of a separate country, Muslims were supposed to live on a par with the minority groups. This approach prevailed for first two decades after the creation of Pakistan but in 1970s, Z.A. Bhutto’s populist Islamist ideology changed the course of events. As stated by Christophe Jaffrelot, “The use of religion was part of Z.A. Bhutto’s populist ideology, which associated socialism with Islam. [General] Zia also used religion to legitimize his power and to find allies among the Islamists”.

The growing impact of these schools is likely to be one of the important themes of Imran Khan’s political manifesto. It is quite evident that the PM is opting for such religious tactics in order to cover his political fiasco and to divert the attention of people by presenting himself to be a savior of Islam. For instance, the unemployment rate in the country increased from 3.98 in 2019 to 4.7 in 2020 according to World Bank. The inflation rate has increased by 8.63% in 2020-21 as reported by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). These two aspects are the important determinants for further deteriorating the peace of the country as people try to find scapegoats to vent their anger and frustration. In addition, the “Islamization policies have multiple and sometimes unintentional consequences on the society” as stated by Christophe Jaffrelot, which depicts that people tend to misuse religion at such instances.

Recently, in an interview to HBO while answering a question about the impact of the dress code of women on the intentions of a rapist, the prime minister maintained that, “If a woman is wearing very few clothes it will have an impact; it will have an impact on the men, unless they are robots. I mean it is common sense.”  Needless to say that vulgarity does have a positive correlation with increasing rape cases but another factor that is even more important is the strict legislation and implementation of law against perpetrators. The deterrence theory of Criminology enunciates that the threat of punishment reduces the probability of crime in a society. But conviction rate in Pakistan is only 0.3% of the total rape cases that are reported, as per a report by Geo news.

Had there been proper legislation, implementation of law, protection of the victim in the country, there would not have been an incessant upsurge in rape cases in the country. Putting the onus of rape crime on the victim means that government is giving a certificate of exoneration to the rapist. A country where perpetrators commit the same crime over and over without being held accountable before the law seems to be giving more space to people to violate the law and abuse the marginalized groups. Instead of holding the victim responsible and saving the perpetrator from moral, social and political liability, the prime minister and his team need to work on rectifying the debilitating law and order situation in the country.

Furthermore, religious minorities are also being targeted and a number of people have been murdered in the name of religion, out of which most of the incidents were found to be more of personal issues than religious ones in reality. Human Rights Watch recently released World Report 2021 which divulged, “The Pakistani government did not amend or repeal blasphemy law provisions that have provided a pretext for violence against religious minorities and have left them vulnerable to arbitrary arrest and prosecution”.

Saroop Ijaz, who is senior council for HRW’s Asia Division, accused the government of Pakistan of violating human rights, “we saw a continuation of the negative trends of attacks on minorities and civil society as well as shackles on freedom of expression since 2018. The challenges became acute last year. There was an increase in attacks on non-Muslims and a failure to stem them.”

A country’s leader and his policies have direct as well as indirect impacts on the general public. Current milieu is depicting a dilapidating condition of Imran Khan’s political leadership and so he is trying to cement his authority by using the religious epithet which is further exacerbating the peace situation in the country.

Imran Khan Considering Dialogue With Insurgents In Balochistan

0

Prime Minister Imran Khan has stated that he is considering to conduct talks with the Balochistan insurgents in order to clear out any misunderstandings or political conflicts to ensure stability in the region. PM Imran Khan said, “It’s my duty to make the people of Balochistan understand that Pakistan is also theirs.” He said that, “If development work had been carried out in the province, we would never have to worry about insurgency.”

This reflects Imran Khan’s policy of stabilising the region in order to promote peace in Pakistan and strengthen its image on international level. Pakistan has faced a lot for supporting the US in its war on terror. It’s time for the people to now live in peace and harmony. A 300-bed hospital along with a desalination plant has been inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

Imran Khan added, “India may have used them to spread chaos but the situation is not the same now.” The PM has also announced a hefty financial package for Balochistan. The money that was supposed to be spent on the development of the province was spent by the politicians on themselves. With all these developments taking place, we hope to see betterment in the province.

Forces on High Alert as International Scheme Underway To Carry Out Terror Activities in Pakistan, Says Sheikh Rasheed

0

Sheikh Rasheed claimed that internationally planned terror acts are to be performed in major cities of Pakistan.

While giving interview to Geo news, Sheikh Rasheed (Minister for interior) claimed that there are terror threats in major cities of Pakistan under the international scheme and seeing the recent circumstances. Pakistan brought these possibilities as it has been visible in global news for the past few weeks. A developing country can face such threats when it lets a superpower down and this was done several times by PM Imran Khan, including other Pakistani officials, when they refused to give Army bases to the USA.

Another aspect to view this threat may also include that these kinds of threats were also highlighted by Pakistan’s foreign office, 5000+ terrorists were claimed to be posing threats to national security who belonged to TTP (Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan). Recently, the former minister of the interior also predicted these threats somehow, when he said that “Afghani soldiers are being trained with modern weapons” and he linked this news with regional peace.

Obviously expected, India not letting go the heat of the moment, to make it intense for Pakistan. However, Pakistan has been proactive as far as India is concerned, handling them at every single forum whether if it was drone seen in Jammu, cyber-attacks and the chain goes on. But the threats remain an important issue for Pakistan.

If FATF Doesn’t Take Action Against India Sponsored Terrorism, Then It Shows It’s Double Standards, Says Shah Mahmood Qureshi

0

Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on Sunday in a statement urged the international body on terror financing, FATF, to question India and take strict action against it as there is solid evidence of Indian sponsored terrorism in Pakistan.

He added that Pakistan always raised the issue of Indian sponsored terrorism in Pakistan and has now done it again, but the international community was never interested in taking action against India.

Qureshi while referring to the bomb blast said that detailed investigations revealed the involvement of RAW-Based terrorists behind the attack.

He questioned the neutrality of the FATF, saying that, “If FATF doesn’t take action against India, then it shows its double standards to which Pakistan has raised an objection. He added that Pakistan is facing a challenging situation, but, by the grace of ALLAH, being a responsible nation, we are up to the mark. He said “After we present evidence against India and FATF doesn’t act against Indiga, then it would be clear whether it’s a technical forum or a political one.

On the same day, National Security Advisor Mooed Yousaf while addressing a press conference with IG Punjab said that there is clear evidence of Indian involvement in the Johar Town blast on 23rd June in Lahore.
According to NSA, there was no doubt that the handlers of the blast were RAW-Based.

Pakistan Will Raise Indian Terror Financing Issue At International Forum, FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi

0

Pakistan and India have always been at loggerheads for most part of history and of today. As stated by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pakistan has decided to take up India’s terror financing issue on an international level, bringing in bigger powers into the play. This statement has been stated in light of the Lahore Johar Town bomb blast take took place last week. According to Mooeed Yusuf, RAW had plotted this inhumane plan. “We expect the international community to take notice of solid evidence provided by Pakistan about Indian involvement in Johar Town”, said the Foreign Minister.

Pakistan has been subject of terrorism for almost two decades now and sources and intelligence reveal that Indian agencies have been the masterminds. Their goal is to shatter the unity and stability of Pakistan and its people. India has been financing terrorists mostly in Balochistan, Waziristan, Karachi and parts all over Pakistan. They target anything they can get their hands on.

Indian spies and agents like Kulbhushan Jadhav have been arrested several times on Pakistani soil. Indian rupees have been found in stashes of killed terrorists. This is ample evidence that India has been trying to destabilize the region with its warmongering policies and actions albeit Pakistan has been effective in countering their appalling and loathing actions. Pakistan has for the most part cleared its land of Indian-sponsored terrorists.

“ISI, With The Help Of Americans, Would Defeat America”, Historic Words Of Gen Hamid Gul Come True

0

Afghanistan, a country that has always been the toughest battleground for most powerful armies, no matter if it’s the British, Soviet Union or US, a country with the highest defence budget.

In 1971 the Soviet Union came to conquer Afghanistan to expand their territory. Pakistani premier intelligence, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) along with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) trained Afghan Mujahideen who were capable of defending themselves from Soviet aggressions.

After Soviet fall back, Afghanistan was administrated by Afghan Taliban, which was the most peaceful period at Durand Line. But soon after 9/11, US military invaded Afghanistan, hunting their own creation, calling it a war against terrorism.

Former President General Pervez Musharraf made Pakistan a US ally in the war against terrorism and allowed NATO to supply equipments in Afghanistan through Pakistan. This act of Musharraf opened a lot of criticisms against him for involving Pakistan in someone else’s war.

On 7 May 2014, former Director General (DG) ISI in an interview with Dunya News said history witnesses that ISI defeated Soviets with the help of the US, one day ISI with the help of Americans would defeat the US. Today when the US troop is withdrawing from Afghanistan after 20 years leaving behind worth billion dollar military equipment, We can say that the prediction of late General Hamid Gul proved to be true years after he left this world.

Indian RAW Behind Lahore Blast, Says Pakistan NSA

0

National Security Assistant, Moeed Yusuf along with Chaudhry Fawad Hussain and IG Punjab, briefed the nation about India’s presence behind the Johar Town blast in Lahore on the 23rd of June, which killed three and injured many.

Following the devastating blast that left three dead and 20 injured, Punjab Government decided to make a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate the mishap properly. CM Buzdar announced recently that the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) had identified and arrested all the terrorists involved in the blast.

Yusuf reminded everyone about their responsibilities by recalling India’s chain of humiliating false accusations. Additionally, he mentioned Indian cyberattacks and the drone issue in Jammu and Kashmir. Yusuf also drew a connection between these events and Afghan peace.

To make the world understand, he ended the speech in the global language, English. He jogged the international community and informed them about Indian overdramatic strategies and their relation with peace in the region.

Afghan Taliban Using Captured US Military Humvee As Local Transport

0

Amidst the turmoil in Afghanistan where the chances of insurgency are on the rise with each passing day, with the Taliban taking over land left by the American forces. Moreover, another grave issue is being overlooked and that is a common trait observed in the withdrawal of US forces all over the world.

They tend to leave behind their used military apparatus. They handed over 25 Humvees to the Afghan forces but it seems useless as it cannot provide protective capabilities from the rockets and detonation bombs used by the Taliban. This has been observed in Iraq, Vietnam and now Afghanistan. American forces are to leave Afghanistan on September 11th this year. But with days passing by new issues are arising for the locals of Afghanistan. Their villages have been destroyed in the war, their people killed and made homeless, political and economic instability in the country.

Furthermore, the haphazardness with which America is leaving Afghanistan is further illustrated by a lack of an agreement on who will run Kabul International Airport, either the Afghan government or the Taliban. Also, the leftover military apparatus only consists of destroyed and unusable equipment.
