Some unpleasant events occurred on social media following the Indian defeat against Pakistan in T20 World Cup. Muslim player of team India, Mohammed Shami had to face online abuse and troll because of his religion.
Mohammed Shami was blamed for losing deliberately to support his Muslim brothers in Pakistan. Trolls and online abuses were not enough for angry Hindu cricket fans so they started giving death threats to Mohammed Shami upon his arrival.
Team India captain Virat Kohli defended Mohammed Shami and said he has a lot of contribution towards team victory. Kholi also added it’s pathetic to target someone for his religion.
For supporting a Muslim player, the angry and abusive troll turned against Kohli and an abusive Twitter trend was launched against him. Some abusive trolls targeted Kohli’s daughter and gave online rape threats to her. A case was filed against these online threats and Mumbai police arrested a Hindu man on Wednesday from Hyderabad, India.
