CDF Asim Munir, Turkish Army Chief Review Regional Security and Defence Cooperation

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Friday discussed the regional security environment and prospects for strengthening bilateral defence cooperation with Turkiye’s Chief of General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, the military’s media wing said.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Bayraktaroglu called on Field Marshal Munir at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, where he was presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan armed forces.

During the meeting, the two military leaders reviewed matters of mutual interest and exchanged views on the prevailing regional and global security landscape. They also held detailed discussions on enhancing defence and military-to-military cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and underscored the importance of maintaining close coordination while further expanding defence collaboration.

Field Marshal Munir highlighted the longstanding and brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye, rooted in shared history, mutual trust and strong people-to-people ties. He appreciated the continued support and cooperation extended by the Turkish armed forces and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening bilateral military relations.

General Bayraktaroglu thanked the Pakistani leadership for the warm reception and praised the professionalism of the Pakistan armed forces. He reiterated Turkiye’s resolve to strengthen defence cooperation, particularly in the areas of training, joint exercises and capacity building.

The ISPR said the visit reflected the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye and their shared commitment to promoting regional peace, stability and security.
