An Indian citizen working in Russia was killed in a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack targeting the Moscow region, the Indian embassy confirmed on Sunday.
According to the embassy, three other Indian workers were also injured in the strike. Embassy officials visited the affected area and met the injured workers at a hospital following the attack.
Russian authorities said nearly 600 Ukrainian drones targeted multiple regions overnight, including areas around Moscow. The assault reportedly killed three people in the Moscow region and another person in the Belgorod region.
Ukrainian officials described the operation as the largest drone attack on the Russian capital since the start of the conflict.
The latest escalation comes days after Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv killed at least 24 people, prompting Ukraine to vow retaliation.
The war between Russia and Ukraine, which intensified after Moscow’s full-scale invasion in 2022, has become Europe’s deadliest conflict since World War II, claiming hundreds of thousands of lives.
