NADRA Launches Home-Based Civil Registration Service via Pak-ID App in Islamabad

The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new digital service allowing residents of Islamabad to register births, deaths, marriages, and divorces from their homes using the Pak-ID mobile application. The initiative, announced in collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA), aims to streamline civil registration across all union councils in the federal capital.

According to a CDA statement, the upgraded service eliminates the need for citizens to physically visit government offices for these essential record-keeping processes. Users can now complete all registrations online through the NADRA mobile app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices. The move is part of Pakistan’s broader push toward digital governance and e-services, reducing bureaucratic hurdles and improving accessibility.

The new system is expected to benefit thousands of families in Islamabad, particularly those in remote or underserved union councils. By digitizing vital events registration, NADRA aims to enhance data accuracy and reduce fraudulent entries. The authority has also intensified its crackdown on forged identity documents, as reported earlier, blocking suspicious CNICs across the country.

Residents can access the Pak-ID app via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. After downloading, users must verify their identity through biometric verification before submitting any registration request. The CDA assured that the online process is secure and compliant with data protection regulations.

This latest development aligns with Pakistan’s Digital Pakistan initiative, which seeks to digitize government services for greater efficiency and transparency. Earlier this year, NADRA launched similar digital services for other cities, including Lahore and Karachi, with plans to expand nationwide by the end of 2026.

The CDA has urged Islamabad residents to utilize the new service and report any technical issues through its helpline. As the capital moves toward a paperless system, officials emphasize that the online platform will save time and resources for both citizens and government departments.
