The Islamabad march being led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reached Karak district on Monday, as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) caravan continued its journey toward the federal capital.
According to Geo News, Sohail Afridi travelled from Peshawar to Lakki Marwat to lead the march, accompanied by PTI leaders including Junaid Akbar. The caravan then moved onward to Karak as part of the party’s planned long march to Islamabad.
The Islamabad march was launched by PTI after talks with the government broke down. The collapse of negotiations was confirmed in multiple developments reported earlier, including the PTI’s announcement that it was beginning its long march after the dialogue process failed.
The government and PTI had been engaged in talks aimed at resolving political tensions, but the discussions ultimately collapsed. The government’s security czar accused KP Chief Minister Afridi of sabotaging the PTI-government talks, according to Geo News. In response, PTI said the government’s insistence on unilateral Khyber Pakhtunkhwa anti-terror actions led to the failure of the talks.
As the Islamabad march proceeds, the PTI caravan led by CM Afridi has now reached Karak, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The march is being closely watched amid heightened political tensions in the country.
The PTI’s long march to Islamabad is a significant political event, drawing attention from across Pakistan. The party has been demanding various concessions from the government, though the specifics of the talks have not been fully disclosed.
Earlier, a special aircraft carrying the victims of the MT Honour 25 incident landed in Karachi, and other news developments included a major blaze at a Karachi garment factory that was contained after four-hour firefighting efforts. However, the political focus remains on the PTI’s march and the breakdown of talks between the government and the party.
The Islamabad march continues to unfold, with the PTI caravan now in Karak. The situation remains fluid, and further developments are expected as the march progresses toward the capital.
